McPherson College seeks an enthusiastic student-centered professor to join the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Department for the 2025-26 academic year as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science. This is a full-time, tenure-track, and benefits eligible position.
The successful candidate will assume responsibility for providing 24 credit hours of instruction in computer science per year. The person in this appointment will teach major and general education courses, design and offer online courses when possible, maintain regular office hours, attend meetings, advise Computer Science majors, assist with recruiting, participate in the governance of the college, and perform other duties within the scope of this position as assigned.
A minimum of a Ph.D. degree in computer science or a related field is preferred (ABD candidates as well as candidates with master’s degrees will also be considered for this appointment). The ideal candidate will have teaching or scholarly experience in one or more of the following areas: cybersecurity, data science/analysis, machine learning, or software development. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of high-quality teaching experience at the collegiate level. Candidates must possess the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to diverse students, and facilitate student learning. Special consideration will be given to candidates with online teaching experience.
