Job Description:
The Director of Healthcare Initiatives will lead our health sciences and sport studies programs, emphasizing experiential learning, interdisciplinary studies, and robust internship opportunities.   This is a full time, 12-month exempt position eligible for the college’s full benefits package.  Recognized for ten years as a Great College to Work For, McPherson College offers exceptional employee benefits, including a notable retirement contribution after 12 months of employment.

This role involves:

  • Oversee academic department operations. In consultation with the department chairs and the VPAA, make recommendations on curriculum, staffing and new courses.
  • Establishing partnerships with local healthcare organizations and agencies to promote student internships and service-learning opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with healthcare providers, especially in rural settings, to meet local workforce demands.
  • Lead research initiatives and grant writing efforts to secure funding for health projects.
  • Promoting student-centered teaching methods that produce graduates known for their problem-solving abilities, strong work ethic, and service orientation.
  • Heading the student internship and professional outreaching opportunities.
  • Developing and delivering courses in health-related fields.

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree is required; An earned doctorate in public health, healthcare administration, or a health-related field is preferred.
  • Teaching, scholarly and/or professional experience in healthcare management, education, or program development with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or teaching experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, small-college environment is preferred.
  • Experience in rural healthcare settings is preferred.
