McPherson College Band Concert

Our concert band and jazz band were both selected to play at the 2022 Kansas State Music Convention (KMEA) this year. For the concert band, it is the third consecutive time in eligible years that we’ve been selected. And in both 2020 and 2022, we were the only private college/university concert or jazz band selected to perform.

This evening’s selections are a “work in progress” for our performance at KMEA. In selecting this repertoire, I followed Midwest Clinic guidelines (the “national KMEA convention”, one could say) which include playing at least one new composition, playing no more than one work from a single publishing company, playing a variety of grade levels of music, and including several works from under-represented composers.
