The primary purpose of assessment is improvement through informed decision-making. Assessment can help the college, an academic department, or a unit determine how well it is achieving its goals. An important component of the assessment cycle is called “closing the loop.” Closing the Loop includes analyzing results from outcome assessments, using results to make changes, and re-assessing outcomes in order to determine the effect of those changes. The examples below highlight how assessment at McPherson College is being used to enhance institutional operations, student learning, and the student experience.
